Robertson’s false step and false teaching.
Filed Under Jesus, The Church, who is Jesus | Leave a Comment
Pat Robertson is at it again (he make the comment about 50 minutes in). And frankly, his ministry is based upon word’s from the Lord, so what he said on September … It is no surprise that he would have no problem contradicting the bible. Robertson said in a Q&A session on the 700 club that a husband was justified in divorcing his wife if she were in late stage Alzheimer’s disease in order to marry another woman. This unbiblical advice goes against the image of marriage God designed in Christ Jesus.
Terry Meeuwsen, Robertson’s co-host, asked him about couples’ marriage vows to take care of each other “for better or for worse” and “in sickness and in health.”
“If you respect that vow, you say ’til death do us part,’” Robertson said during the Tuesday broadcast. “This is a kind of death.”
In Ephesians 5:25 St. Paul calls men to love their wives as Christ loves his church. At times Christ church acts like she has Alzheimer’s. The mental, or shall I call it spiritual illness of running toward sin and other gods has been a common occurrence since the garden. Yet Christ says he shall never leave or forsake the church. Christ died for the church when she was dead in her trespasses and sin. In her deepest need Christ set aside his own pleasure for the good, comfort and life of those whom he loved.
Robertson has moved his eyes off the crucified Christ and on to human pleasure and the heart ache of this life. Christ’s focus was not on easy, immediate satisfaction, but on the eternal joy that those who trust in Him will receive by way of his sacrifice. Robertson is seeking a glory religion with immediate gratificaiton, while Jesus taught a faith of the cross with eternal joy.
